The Evolution of the Complete Hair Removal Device
At The Facetime Skin & Body Clinic we use the world’s largest manufacturer of lasers, Quanta Q-Plus C which are both FDA & TGA approved. The Alexandrite (755nm) making it safe and effective for skin types (1-4).
This device is a Medical Grade Laser, not an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL).
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED
The amount of treatments required will vary from person to person. For the best results, we typically recommend 8 to 10 treatments depending on the area, this will ensure that all hair is effectively interrupted and immobilised during the active growth phase of the growth cycle.
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Laser hair removal uses laser light pulses to selectively destroy hair follicles by targeting the melanin (colour) in them. The pigment in the hair follicle absorbs the laser’s light pulse, which damages the follicle enough to significantly retard hair regrowth. The laser delivers an intense beam of light, which is absorbed by the hair follicle whilst the surrounding tissue remains unaffected.
The laser light targets only hair that are actively growing (anagen phase), therefore multiple treatments are necessary to treat all the hair as they are not all growing simultaneously. Different hair follicles will be in different hair growth stages at any one time. For this reason, it requires several laser hair removal sessions to ensure catching all of the hair in the anagen phase.
Pre-Treatment
The area being treated must be kept out of the sun for up to 2 weeks prior to treatment. Recently sun exposed clients cannot receive treatment for their safety and will be rescheduled. All spray or ‘fake’ tans in the treatment area must be scrubbed off completely prior to commencing any laser treatment.
All hair in the treatment area must be shaved the night before. Never wax or depilatate, only shave as the laser needs the hair to be in the follicle in order to achieve desired results. Some clients may be required to use a pigment suppressor.
The contact Skin Cooler provides skin cooling during laser treatment, effectively reducing the pain and allowing the use of the proper fluencies especially for vascular lesions treatments to reduce potential side effects.
The Skin Cryo handpiece, instead, is intended to work in combination with an external compatible air cooling unit to provide a cold air flow designed for the reduction of pain and thermal injury on skin tissue.
