Traditional dermal fillers replace volume where it has been lost through ageing- building more definition and volume to the face. Skin-boosters are different: a course of skin-boosters will hydrate from within to treat the overall condition of your skin, leaving your skin hydrated and glowing. Skin-boosters have a much finer consistency compared with typical dermal fillers so will help to hydrate but won’t create dramatic volume changes. Skin-boosters are more for a subtle refresh all over. Improvement in skin elasticity is noticeable and develops over a 4 week period leaving you with a natural but noticeably invigorated look to your skin that lasts for up to 6 months
Skin boosters will not change the structure of your face like dermal fillers will, nor will they reduce wrinkles like wrinkle relaxing injections. They hydrate and rejuvenate resulting in a glow to the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and pores while improving skin tone and texture.
ARE SKIN BOOSTERS SAFE?
Skin boosters are very safe. Aside from the initial downtime with possible swelling, bruising and redness there are possible rarer complications as with other dermal fillers.
What Preparations Do I Need to Make?
Please avoid alcohol, NSAIDS (such as aspirin and Synflex), and any supplements which can thin the blood (including Vitamin E, garlic, ginseng) for 2 days before and after the treatment to minimize bruising.
WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE?
Skin Boosters are applied with a mesotherapy gun. These are machines that utilise a 5 point needle system to deliver a specific amount of dermal filler to a specific depth. It uses suction to bring the skin to the needles to provide even distribution of the dermal filler up to 1mm into the skin.
Prior to your procedure, we apply a topical numbing agent which makes the treatment a comfortable experience. It is also possible to perform the treatment without numbing cream, as the suction helps to also alleviate any discomfort.
The injection of 2-3ml of skin booster is often required for the full face. The face is the most popular area for skin boosters however other areas may include: Hands, Décolletage, Neck, Lips.
HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT LAST?
The results of skin boosters will be seen immediately, however, will continue to improve for 3 months as new collagen regenerates.
We recommend at the start 4 treatments 6 weeks apart. Maintenance treatment is then offered every 6 months.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE TREATMENT?
Immediately post-treatment, you can resume your normal daily activities however there may be have some swelling and redness.
It is important to follow any post-treatment care instructions given to you by your injector.
